MIND & BODY

Movement
in your early 40s
is so important.

Exercise in midlife and beyond is important for our minds, for happiness and concentration, as well as our bodies for strength and flexibility.

The exercise we did in our 20s and 30s may not be effective.

Learn something new

It's worth understanding that things chance and actively learn something new; adding a new skill, a different hobby. This can be anything from Swimming, to Pilates, to Weight Training to Tai Chi to Dancing.

Stay Active

Exercise releases endorphins, which improve mood and make you feel good for hours. The quality of life, cognitive function, depression, sleep patterns, weariness, bone density, weight maintenance, and cardiovascular disease may all be improved by regular exercise.

Periods in our 40s can change

In our 40s our periods tend to change; more emotional, more unpredictable, heavier, longer. It's different for each woman.

One option is to get the Mirena Coil fitted (NHS or private options available). There are now some amazing products available to help women manage heavier periods. Midst recommends Modi Bodi, or WUKA.

MIDST SUGGESTS:

  • Pilates
  • Yoga
  • Add weights to your wrists or ankles on a walk
  • Tai Chi
