MOOD & IRRITABILITY

In early menopause
there is a lot
going on in life too

We are in the middle of our lives with people to care for, however our bodies are changing as oestrogen fluctuates and decreases causing cognitive impact on the brain and affecting our moods.

When oestrogen and progesterone levels decrease during menopause, so does their role in helping you release these chemicals.

Fluctuations

Too little oestrogen can instigate tears, cognitive decline, low mood and depression.

Too much oestrogen can instigate anger and irritability.

Decreasing oestrogen also affects moods in 2 ways:

1. It accelerates the breakdown of seratonin - a neurotransmitter in the nervous system which assists feelings of happiness and well.

2. Its relationship with MOA-A (monoamine oxidase A which regulates by switching off serotonin) assists the removal of serotonin which heavily impacts the fragile balance of happiness, mood, anxiety and depression.
