Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an approach to solving personal problems by understanding how our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect our feelings and actions. The process helps us gain control of our thoughts and so, are more able to cope.

It is a talking therapy and usually involves looking at a problem in a different way. It may take up to 6 sessions or more to change these thinking patterns once identified.

CBT has been successful for women in midlife as we understand ourselves better. It has also been effective in managing some of the symptoms of Perimenopause and Menopause, such as depression and anxiety and even hot flushes. The break in negative thought patterns towards menopause and ageing can sometimes contribute to depressed mood and low self-esteem.
